Mezquita Shawl

I finished the Mezquita Shawl and got it blocked.  The pattern was easy and knitted up quickly and I love the color. The baby alpaca yarn is so soft and destined to be a favorite!!

Honey Cowl

Finished another Christmas present.  This time it's the Honey Cowl made with the fewer cast on stitches of 110 to make the shorter cowl.  I used 1 skein of Knit Picks Swish worsted in colorway Gypsy Tonal.  I love this pattern and will make another for myself in the longer cast on of 220 stitches which will be able to be wrapped around the neck or hang long.

Sally Scarf ala Kim

Working on Christmas gifts and having a most beautiful blue in Cascade 128 I set out looking for the perfect pattern for a scarf.  I found the Sally Scarf on Ravelry.  I  started making it with no stripes and soon realized that it wasn't going to be as long as I would like so I set off to Barbara Sue Brodie in Aiken.  Thankfully my realization came at the same time I was headed in that direction for Aiken's Makin.  It's a yearly event that I go to with my high school friend Mary Ellen and this year her two daughters came with us.  Well BSB does not carry Cascade :(  but the lady there helped me find an acceptable alternative in Berroco Plush Colors.  Well I must say I love the combination and the Berroco is ever so soft!!   I also have to say I only followed the directions for the original cast on rows and bind off rows all those in between I was just winging and changing colors when I felt the need to.  It's still the same knit purl pattern and it was a very easy knit.

I'm still working on the Nutkin socks and have started the Lime Aid socks.  I'm also knitting another Christmas gift called the Honey Cowl and am loving it!  May have to make one for myself too ;)

Kellokukka Shawl and Picot Tricot Scarf

After sitting in a basket for 3 years I finally blocked the Kellokukka Shawl!  I love my new blocks, wires & pins and they make it so much easier than the towel-straight pin method (which is probably why I haven't blocked it thus far).  I used Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy which I really like both to knit with and the feel too.

The Picot Tricot Scarf will be a Christmas Gift and was started a month ago and finished last night!  I wish I could find the hand written tag that described the yarn and yardage but it's totally awol.  I do remember it's a cotton and was handspun and bought at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival I went to years ago.  The colors are so pretty and it is very soft and I'm sure whoever gets it will love wearing it!

Ethereal Triangle Shawl

I finally blocked the Ethereal Shawl made with Knit Picks Gossamer in Carribean colorway and used my new blockers and pins that I got from Knit Picks.  They made it sooo much easier to use and I was leery about moving it to another room after pinning but the blocks when set are much sturdier than I thought and it was totally easy peasy to move after all!!  I will be going out of town in the morning so the shawl will be plenty dry and ready to use when I get back home this weekend :-)  Unfortunately I wish I had used a solid color so the pattern would have showed up better.  I will remember this in the future as it is a lot of work to not see the design :-(

Ode to Cooper

My sister Misty's Hemingway cat Cooper passed away last night.  Cooper was an extraordinary cat in that he had thumbs that he used to open cabinets.  He enjoyed watching kitty tv (aka aquarium).  He was very friendly and very odd shaped.  Tiny head and tail and big fat body.  He was sweet and will be missed very much.

Tinseltown Scarf

Last night I finished the Tinseltown Scarf found on Euro Yarn's website.  It  is made in the black colorway from yarn that I had purchased in January when I went to Florida at Brandon Yarn Boutique.  This will be a Christmas present too.

Dragonfly Socks and Mariners Scarf

I'm not the greatest at keeping up with passwords and email accounts so I can't get onto the other two blogger accounts that I had http://dogquilter.blogspot.com/ and http://dogquilterknits.blogspot.com/ and I've run out of picture space at the wordpress account http://dogquilter.wordpress.com/  :-(   So here I am starting a new blog....

I finished blocking the Dragonfly Socks.  I love them and this is the first of the Socks that Rock yarn I've ever used in Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah colorway.  The colors are much brighter in person than in the pictures which really bums me out but I will get over it.  The feel of the yarn is yummy and I will be hard pressed to want to use any other sock yarn - thanks Turtlegirl it's all your fault for showing your socks off on your blog ;-)

The second featured knit is the Mariners Scarf in Knit Picks Swish worsted weight in Serrano colorway.  It most probably will be a Christmas present as I mostly keep the socks to myself - I'm just thataway ;-)
